Privacy
We count visits to this site so we can see which pages help readers and where they find us. We do this ourselves: no other company's script runs on these pages.
What we record.
When a page opens, we record:
- the page;
- the language you read in;
- the website or campaign that sent you, if there was one;
- your country and nearest city, worked out from your network address;
- whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer;
- your browser's family name (for example "Safari").
When you leave a page, we record how many seconds it was in view. On the Listen page, we record which surah and reciter you played.
What we do not record.
- We set no cookies for this and keep nothing in your browser.
- We never store your network address. It is shortened before anything is written.
- The counting key made from it changes every day. It cannot be turned back into an address, or linked from one day to the next.
- We do not store your name, your email, or your browser's full description.
Questions asked on Ask.
The questions you type into Ask are kept word for word, so that we can improve the answers. Each is kept with only the number of verses it found and the day it was asked. Nothing that identifies who asked is kept with it: no network address, no counting key, no time of day. A question that brings up the support page is not kept. Questions are kept with no deletion date.
How long.
- Page records are kept for 90 days and then reduced to daily totals, which are kept.
- The web server's own logs hold a shortened network address and are deleted after 14 days.
Who sees it.
Only the people who run this site, on a private page.
If you have scripting turned off, none of the visit records above are sent.
