O Prophet! If any of you divorce women, divorce them during their period of purity, and calculate their term. And be pious before God, your Lord. হে নবী! তুমি (১) তোমরা যখন তোমাদের স্ত্রীদেরকে তালাক দিবে, তখন তাদের ‘ইদ্দত অনুসারে (পবিত্রতার সময়) তাদের তালাক দাও এবং (যথাযথভাবে) ‘ইদ্দতের হিসাব রাখবে এবং তোমাদের রব আল্লাহকে (২) ভয় করবে। তোমরা তালাকপ্রাপ্তাদেরকে তোমাদের বাড়ি-ঘর থেকে বের করে দিয়ো না এবং তারাও (ইদ্দত পরিপূর্ণ হওয়ার পূর্বে) বের হবে না। যদি না তারা কোন স্পষ্ট অশ্লীলতায় লিপ্ত হয় (তবে তা ভিন্ন কথা)। আর এগুলো আল্লাহর সীমারেখা। আর যে আল্লাহর (নির্ধারিত) সীমারেখাসমূহ অতিক্রম করে, সে অবশ্যই তার নিজের ওপরই যুলম করে। (হে তালাকদাতা!) তুমি জানো না, এরপর (উক্ত তালাকের পর ) আল্লাহ হয়ত (উভয়ের ফিরে আসার) কোন একটা পথ বের করে দিবেন।

Αν (εσείς οι πιστοί αποφασίσετε να) δώσετε διαζύγιο στις γυναίκες (σας), τότε δώστε τους το διαζύγιο τη στιγμή που μπορούν να ξεκινήσουν τη δική τους ‘Εΐντα [δηλ. την ορισμένη περίοδο αναμονής κατά την οποία η γυναίκα δεν μπορεί να παντρευτεί άλλον. Ξεκινάει από τη στιγμή που ο σύζυγος ανακοινώνει το διαζύγιο προφορικά, με την προϋπόθεση η σύζυγος να μη βρίσκεται σε έμμηνο ρύση τη στιγμή της ανακοίνωσης και να μην έχει ο σύζυγος σεξουαλική επαφή μαζί της από την τελευταία έμμηνο ρύση της, ώστε να είναι σίγουροι αν είναι έγκυος ή όχι].
