Sie haben bereits zuvor danach getrachtet, euch der Versuchung auszusetzen, und haben dir die Angelegenheiten umgekehrt, bis die Wahrheit kam und die Anordnung Allahs erschien, obwohl es ihnen zuwider war.
Ήδη είχαν αναζητήσει (οι υποκριτές) να σπείρουν διχόνοια (μεταξύ των πιστών) από πριν (τη μάχη της Ταμπούκ, όπως έκανε ο Αμπντ Αλλάχ μπιν Ουμπάι κατά τη μάχη της Ούχουντ, όταν έφυγε με τους συντρόφους του), και είχαν επινοήσει συνωμοσίες εναντίον σου (ω, Προφήτη) μέχρι που ήρθε η αλήθεια (η νίκη) και επικράτησε η εντολή (η θρησκεία) του Αλλάχ, παρόλο που το μισούσαν αυτό.
निःसंदेह उन्होंने इससे पहले भी उपद्रव मचाना चाहा तथा आपके लिए कई मामले उलट-पलट किए। यहाँ तक कि सत्य आ गया और अल्लाह का आदेश प्रबल हो गया। हालाँकि वे नापसंद करने वाले थे।

Of them are some who say, 'Permit me, and do not try me!' Have they not fallen into the trial already, but hell shall encompass the misbelievers
Some of them say to thee, "Allow me to remain at home, and expose me not to the trial." Have they not fallen into a trial already? But verily, Hell shall environ the Infidels
There is of them who saith unto thee, give me leave to stay behind, and expose me not to temptation. Have they not fallen into temptation at home? But hell will surely encompass the unbelievers
