Surah 91
Written by the editors. Not a translation, and not a source. It carries the AALAMIN Editor signature and the date it was signed, because someone has to answer for it.
Fifteen verses and fifty-four words: eleven oaths in a row — sun, moon, day, night, sky, earth, and the soul and how it was proportioned — before a single sentence about success and failure. Then Thamud, the she-camel, and the most wretched of them who was sent to hamstring her.
وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)wash-shamsi waduhaahaa
DIN 31635waš-šamsi waḍuḥāhā
By the sun and its radiance.
By the sun and his brightness
By the sun and its noonday brightness
BY the SUN and his noonday brightness
By the sun, and its rising brightness
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)wal-qamari idhaa talaahaa
DIN 31635wal-qamari ʾiḏā talāhā
And the moon as it follows it.
And the moon when she followeth him
And the moon when it follows him
By the Moon when she followeth him
by the moon, when she followeth him
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)wan-nahaari idhaa jallaahaa
DIN 31635wan-nahāri ʾiḏā ǧallāhā
And the day as it reveals it.
And the day when it revealeth him
And the day when it displays him
By the Day when it revealeth his glory
by the day, when it sheweth his splendor
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)wallayli idhaa yaghshaahaa
DIN 31635wallayli ʾiḏā yaġšāhā
And the night as it conceals it.
And the night when it enshroudeth him
And the night when it covers him
By the Night when it enshroudeth him
by the night, when it covereth him with darkness
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)was-samaa'i wamaa banaahaa
DIN 31635was-samāʾi wamā banāhā
And the sky and He who built it.
And the heaven and Him Who built it
And the heaven and what built it
By the Heaven and Him who built it
by the heaven, and Him who built it
وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)wal-'ardi wamaa tahaahaa
DIN 31635wal-ʾarḍi wamā ṭaḥāhā
And the earth and He who spread it.
And the earth and Him Who spread it
And the earth and what spread it
By the Earth and Him who spread it forth
by the earth, and Him who spread it forth
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)wanafsin wamaa sawwaahaa
DIN 31635wanafsin wamā sawwāhā
And the soul and He who proportioned it.
And a soul and Him Who perfected it
And the soul and what fashioned it, and taught it
By a Soul and Him who balanced it
by the soul, and Him who completely formed it
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)fa'alhamahaa fujoorahaa wataqwaahaa
DIN 31635faʾalhamahā fuǧūrahā wataqwāhā
The translators word this verse differently
And inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness.
And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it
its sin and its piety
And breathed into it its wickedness and its piety
and inspired into the same its faculty of distinguishing, and power of choosing, wickedness and piety
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)qad aflaha man zakkaahaa
DIN 31635qad ʾaflaḥa man zakkāhā
Successful is he who purifies it.
He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow
Prosperous is he who purifies it
Blessed now is he who hath kept it pure
Now is he who hath purified the same, happy
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)waqad khaaba man dassaahaa
DIN 31635waqad ḫāba man dassāhā
Failing is he who corrupts it.
And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it
And disappointed is he who corrupts it
And undone is he who hath corrupted it
but he who hath corrupted the same, is miserable
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ
Easy-read (simplified)kadhdhabat thamoodu bitaghwaahaa
DIN 31635kaḏḏabat ṯamūdu biṭaġwāhā
The translators word this verse differently
Thamood denied in its pride.
(The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride
Thamud called the apostle a liar in their outrage
Themoud in his impiety rejected the message of the Lord
Thamud accused their prophet Saleh of imposture, through the excess of their wickedness
إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)idhi nba'atha ashqaahaa
DIN 31635ʾiḏi nbaʿaṯa ʾašqāhā
The translators word this verse differently
When it followed its most wicked.
When the basest of them broke forth
when their wretch rose up
When the greatest wretch among them rushed up
When the wretch among them was sent to slay the camel
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)faqaala lahum rasoolu llaahi naaqata llaahi wasuqyaahaa
DIN 31635faqāla lahum rasūlu llāhi nāqata llāhi wasuqyāhā
The messenger of God said to them, "This is the she-camel of God, so let her drink."
And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink
and the apostle of God said to them, God's she-camel! so give her to drink
Said the Apostle of God to them, - "The Camel of God! let her drink
and the apostle of God said unto them, let alone the camel of God; and hinder not her drinking
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)fakadhdhaboohu fa'aqaroohaa fadamdama 'alayhim rabbuhum bidhanbihim fasawwaahaa
DIN 31635fakaḏḏabūhu faʿaqarūhā fadamdama ʿalayhim rabbuhum biḏanbihim fasawwāhā
But they called him a liar, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled it.
But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings)
But they called him a liar, and they ham-strung her; but their Lord destroyed them in their sins, and served them all alike
But they treated him as an impostor and hamstrung her. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime, and visited all alike
But they charged him with imposture; and they slew her. Wherefore their Lord destroyed them, for their crime, and made their punishment equal unto them all
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا
Easy-read (simplified)walaa yakhaafu 'uqbaahaa
DIN 31635walā yaḫāfu ʿuqbāhā
The translators word this verse differently
And He does not fear its sequel.
He dreadeth not the sequel (of events)
and He fears not the result thereof
Nor feared he the issue
And he feareth not the issue thereof
Surah 92

Twenty-one verses on night and day and the making of male and female, and then two efforts described in parallel: the one who gives and fears God and believes in the best, whose way is eased toward ease, and the one who withholds and considers himself self-sufficient, whose way is eased toward hardship.
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)wallayli idhaa yaghshaa
DIN 31635wallayli ʾiḏā yaġšā
By the night as it covers.
By the night enshrouding
By the night when it veils
BY the NIGHT when she spreads her veil
By the night, when it covereth all things with darkness
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)wan-nahaari idhaa tajallaa
DIN 31635wan-nahāri ʾiḏā taǧallā
And the day as it reveals.
And the day resplendent
And the day when it is displayed
By the Day when it brightly shineth
by the day, when it shineth forth
وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ
Easy-read (simplified)wamaa khalaqa dh-dhakara wal-'unthaa
DIN 31635wamā ḫalaqa ḏ-ḏakara wal-ʾunṯā
And He who created the male and the female.
And Him Who hath created male and female
And by what created male and female
By Him who made male and female
by Him who hath created the male, and the female
إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)inna sa'yakum lashattaa
DIN 31635ʾinna saʿyakum lašattā
The translators word this verse differently
Your endeavors are indeed diverse.
Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends)
Verily, your efforts are diverse
At different ends truly do ye aim
Verily your endeavour is different
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)fa'ammaa man a'taa waattaqaa
DIN 31635faʾammā man ʾaʿṭā wāttaqā
The translators word this verse differently
As for him who gives and is righteous.
As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah)
But as for him who gives alms and fears God
But as to him who giveth alms and feareth God
Now whoso is obedient, and feareth God
وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)wasaddaqa bil-husnaa
DIN 31635waṣaddaqa bil-ḥusnā
The translators word this verse differently
And confirms goodness.
And believeth in goodness
And believes in the best
And yieldeth assent to the Good
and professeth the truth of that faith which is most excellent
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)fasanuyassiruhu lilyusraa
DIN 31635fasanuyassiruhu lilyusrā
The translators word this verse differently
We will ease his way towards ease.
Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease
We will send him easily to ease
To him will we make easy the path to happiness
unto him will We facilitate the way to happiness
وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)wa'ammaa man bakhila wastaghnaa
DIN 31635waʾammā man baḫila wastaġnā
The translators word this verse differently
But as for him who is stingy and complacent.
But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent
But as for him who is niggardly, And longs for wealth
But as to him who is covetous and bent on riches
But whoso shall be covetous, and shall be wholly taken up with this world
وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)wakadhdhaba bil-husnaa
DIN 31635wakaḏḏaba bil-ḥusnā
The translators word this verse differently
And denies goodness.
And disbelieveth in goodness
And calls the good a lie
And calleth the Good a lie
and shall deny the truth of that which is most excellent
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ
Easy-read (simplified)fasanuyassiruhu lil'usraa
DIN 31635fasanuyassiruhu lilʿusrā
The translators word this verse differently
We will ease his way towards difficulty.
Surely We will ease his way unto adversity
We will send him easily to difficulty
To him will we make easy the path to misery
unto him will We facilitate the way to misery
وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ
Easy-read (simplified)wamaa yughnee 'anhu maaluhu idhaa taraddaa
DIN 31635wamā yuġnī ʿanhu māluhu ʾiḏā taraddā
And his money will not avail him when he plummets.
His riches will not save him when he perisheth
And his wealth shall not avail him When he falls down (into hell)
And what shall his wealth avail him when he goeth down
and his riches shall not profit him, when he shall fall headlong into hell
