Seven verses, and the number seven is the least interesting thing in them.
What the text actually varies is the NOUN. 2:29, 41:12, 65:12, 67:3, 71:15 and 78:12 say seven heavens. 23:17 says seven PATHS - or ways, or tracks, depending on the rendering. So the seven is attached to more than one word, which makes any confident reconstruction of a seven-layered cosmos harder than it looks.
Three verses add something beyond the count.
41:12 is the most detailed: seven heavens ordained in two days, each with its own mandate inspired into it, and THE NEAREST heaven decked with lamps and made inviolable. It distinguishes the lowest from the rest, and puts the visible lights in the lowest one.
65:12 contains the clause almost nobody quotes: seven heavens, AND OF THE EARTH THE LIKE THEREOF. Whatever sevenfold structure is being described, this verse extends it downward as well as upward. A reader who has only ever met the seven heavens should be shown this verse.
67:3 does something no other verse here does - it tells the reader to check. Seven heavens in harmony; you see no fault; LOOK AGAIN - do you see any rifts? The verse invites inspection twice over.
What the text never does is describe them. There is no account of what distinguishes one heaven from another, no journey through them, and no assignment of contents beyond the lamps in the nearest. The detailed seven-heaven cosmologies familiar from later literature are built on the night journey reports and on commentary, not on these seven verses - and neither nor has cleared the rights audit.

So führte Er sie als sieben Himmel in zwei Tagen aus und gab jedem Himmel seine Aufgabe ein. Und Wir haben den untersten Himmel mit Lampen geschmückt, und auch als Schutz. Dies ist die Anordnung des Allmächtigen und des Allwissenden.

12. Tada Jis užbaigė jų kūrimą (kaip) septynis dangus per dvi dienas ir Jis padarė kiekviename danguje jo reikalus. Ir Mes papuošėme arčiausią (žemiausią) dangų šviesuliais (žvaigždėmis) kaip puošmenomis ir padarėme jas apsauga. Toks yra Jo, Visa Galingiausiojo, Visa Žinančiojo Įsakymas.

И Он завершил их [сотворение] семью небесами за два дня и внушил каждому небу его предназначение. Мы украсили ближайшее небо светильниками и сделали его охраняемым. Таково установление Могущественного, Знающего.
Тада их је створио у два дана, као седам небеса, и одредио је шта ће на сваком небу да се налази. А најближе небо смо украсили светиљкама и њих смо учинили као заштиту. То је одредба Силнога и Свезнајућег.
Basi akazifanya mbingu saba kwa siku mbili, na akazipangia kila mbingu mambo yake. Na tukaipamba mbingu ya chini kwa mataa na kwa ulinzi. Hiki ndicho kipimo cha Mwenye Nguvu, ajuaye zaidi.
Under två dagar formade han dem till sju himlar och tilldelade varje himmel dess uppgift. Och den lägsta himlen har vi smyckat med lysande stjärnor som ett skydd [mot intrång]. Sådant är den Allmäktiges, den Allvetandes verk.
Böylece onları yedi gök olarak iki günde varedip, her bir göğe kendi işini bildirdi. Dünya göğünü ise kandillerle/yıldızlarla süsledik ve koruduk. İşte bu; Hakim, Aziz olan (Allah'ın) takdiridir.

He placed stabilizers over it; and blessed it; and planned its provisions in four days, equally to the seekers.
He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask
And He placed thereon firm mountains above it and blessed it, and apportioned therein its foods in four days alike for those who ask
And he hath placed on the earth the firm mountains which tower above it; and He hath blessed it, and distributed food throughout it, for the cravings of all alike, in four days
And He placed in the earth mountains firmly rooted, rising above the same: And He blessed it; and provided therein the food of the creatures designed to be the inhabitants thereof, in four days; equally, for those who ask

Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient
Then He made for the heaven and it was but smoke, and He said to it and to the earth, 'Come, ye two, whether ye will or no!' They said, 'We come willingly

But if they turn aside, then say, 'I have warned you of a thunder-clap like the thunder-clap of 'Ad and Thamud
If they turn away, then SAY: I warn you of a tempest, like the tempest of Ad and Themoud
If the Meccans withdraw from these instructions, say, I denounce unto you a sudden destruction, like the destruction of Ad and Thamud

When the apostles came to them on every side, saying, "Worship none but God," they said, "Had our Lord been pleased to send down, He had surely sent down angels; and in sooth, your message we do not believe
When the apostles came unto them before them and behind them, saying, worship God alone; they answered, if our Lord had been pleased to send messengers, He had surely sent angels: And we believe not the message with which ye are sent

ალლაჰია ის, ვინც შექმნა შვიდი ზეცა და მათ მსგავსად (შვიდი) დედამიწა. მათ შორის [ცათა და მიწათა] ჩამოდის ბრძანება [ალლაჰის გამოცხადება], რათა იცოდეთ, რომ ალლაჰი ყოვლისშემძლეა და რომ ალლაჰი ცოდნით ყოველივეს მოიცავს [ყოვლისმცოდნეა].
Allah ist es, Der sieben Himmel erschaffen hat, und von der Erde gleich (viel). Der Befehl (Allahs) kommt wahrhaftig zwischen ihnen herab, damit ihr wisst, dass Allah zu allem die Macht hat und dass Allah ja alles mit Seinem Wissen umfasst.
Ο Αλλάχ είναι Αυτός που έπλασε επτά ουρανούς, και ομοίως για τη γη (επτά). Η Εντολή Του κατεβαίνει ανάμεσά τους (τους ουρανούς και τη γη), για να μάθετε ότι ο Αλλάχ είναι για τα πάντα Ικανός, και ότι ο Αλλάχ περιβάλλει τα πάντα με τη Γνώση (Του).

12. Tai Allahas, Kuris sukūrė septynis dangus ir (tiek pat) žemių, kaip ir jų. (Jo) įsakymas nusileidžia tarp jų tam, kad jūs žinotumėte, jog Allahas yra Sugebantis viską ir kad Allahas apima viską Žinojimu.
Rabbiin Isa samii torbaniifi dachii irraayis fakkiidhuma isaanii uumeedha. Ajajni jidduu isaaniitti bu'a(. Wanti inni kana uumeefis) akka isin Rabbiin waan hunda irratti danda'aafi Rabbiin beekumsaan wantoota cufa marsuu isaa beektanuufi.
Аллах — Тот, Кто сотворил семь небес и из земли — подобное им. Его повеление нисходит между ними, чтобы вы знали, что Аллах мощен над всем сущим и что Аллах объял знанием всё сущее.

Mwenyezi Mungu ni yule ambaye ameziumba mbingu saba, na ardhi kwa mfano wa hizo. Amri zake zinashuka baina yake, ili mjue kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye uweza mno juu ya kila kitu, na kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu amekizingira kila kitu kukijua vilivyo kwa elimu yake.
Gud är den som skapat sju himlar och lika många jordskikt. Han låter sin befallning sänka sig mellan dem, för att ni ska inse att Gud har makt över allt och att hans kunskap omsluter allting.
Allah, yedi kat göğü ve yerden bir o kadarını yaratandır. Onun emri bunlar arasından inip durmaktadır ki, böylece Allah'ın her şeye kadir olduğunu ve her şeyi ilmiyle kuşattığını bilesiniz.

A messenger who recites to you God's Verses, clear and distinct, that he may bring those who believe and work righteousness from darkness into light. Whoever believes in God and acts with integrity, He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow, therein to abide forever. God has given him an excellent provision.
A messenger reciting unto you the revelations of Allah made plain, that He may bring forth those who believe and do good works from darkness unto light. And whosoever believeth in Allah and doeth right, He will bring him into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein to abide for ever. Allah hath made good provision for him
Ye who believe! God has sent down to you a reminder; - an apostle to recite to you God's manifest signs;- to bring forth those who believe and act aright from darkness into light! and whoso believes in God and acts right He will bring him into gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever and for aye! God has made goodly for him his provision
a prophet, who reciteth to you the clear signs of God, that he may bring those who believe, and do the things that are right, out of the darkness into the light. And - whoso believeth in God, and doeth the things that are right, God will cause them to enter the gardens beneath which the rivers flow, to remain therein for aye! A goodly provision now hath God made for him
an apostle who may rehearse unto you the perspicuous signs of God; that he may bring forth those who believe and do good works, from darkness into light. რომელმაც შვიდი ცა შექმნა რიგებად (ერთმანეთის ზემოთ). შენ, (ო, ადამიანო), მოწყალე ალლაჰის ქმნილებაში ვერავითარ შეუსაბამობას ვერ დაინახავ. მაშ, კვლავ მიაპყარი შენი მზერა (თუ ეჭვი გაქვს): ხედავ თუ არა რაიმე ბზარს [ნაკლოვანებას]?
(Er ist es,) Der sieben Himmel in Schichten (übereinander) erschaffen hat. Du kannst in der Schöpfung des Allerbarmers keine Ungesetzmäßigkeit sehen. So wende den Blick zurück: Siehst du irgendwelche Risse?
Ο Οποίος δημιούργησε επτά ουρανούς σε στρώματα, τον έναν πάνω στον άλλον· δε θα δεις στη δημιουργία του Αρ-Ραχμάν (Παντελεήμονα) καμία ατέλεια (ή δυσαναλογία). Έπειτα στρέψε το βλέμμα σου για άλλη μια φορά: «Μήπως βλέπεις καμία σχισμή;»
जिसने ऊपर-तले सात आकाश बनाए। तुम अत्यंत दयावान् की रचना में कोई असंगति नहीं देखोगे। फिर पुनः देखो, क्या तुम्हें कोई दरार दिखाई देता है?
Colui che creò sette cieli sovrapposti, così che non vedrai nel creato del misericordioso nessun difetto. Volgi lo sguardo: vedi qualche difetto?
3. (Ir Tas), Kuris sukūrė septynis dangus lygiais. Tu nematai Gailestingiausiojo kūryboje jokio nesuderinamumo. Tad atgręžkite (savo) žvilgsnius (į dangų). Ar matote kokių nors plyšių?
(Rabbiin) Isa samii torba wal jalaa gubbaan uumeedha; uumaa Rahmaan keessatti wal dhabbii irraa homaa hin argitu. Mee agartuu kee (gara samii) deebisii dhoohaa irraa waan ta'e ni argitaa?
Тот, Кто сотворил семь небес, одно над другим. Ты не увидишь в творении Всемилостивого никакого изъяна. Так обрати свой взор снова: видишь ли ты какие-либо трещины?

Неужели вы не видите, как Аллах сотворил семь небес одно над другим,
Зар не видите како је Аллах седам небеса, једно изнад другог, створио
Kwani hamwoni jinsi Mwenyezi Mungu alivyoziumba mbingu saba kwa matabaka?
Har ni inte sett hur Gud har skapat sju himlar, den ena ovanför den andra,
Allah’ın yedi göğü kat kat nasıl yarattığını görmüyor musunuz?
کیا تم نہیں دیکھتے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اوپر تلے کس طرح سات آسمان پیدا کر دیئے ہیں.[1]

და (ვფიცავ), უეჭველად, ჩვენ შევქმენით თქვენ ზემოთ შვიდი გზა [შვიდი ცა, რომლებიც ერთმანეთის ზემოთ არიან განლაგებულნი], და ჩვენ არასოდეს ვყოფილვართ უყურადღებო ჩვენი ქმნილებების მიმართ.
Und Wir schufen ja bereits über euch sieben Lagen, und Wir sind der Schöpfung gegenüber nicht unachtsam.
Πράγματι, δημιουργήσαμε από πάνω σας (ω, άνθρωποι) επτά ουρανούς, τον έναν πάνω από τον άλλον, και ποτέ δεν έχουμε παραμελήσει (ούτε ξεχάσαμε) τη δημιουργία Μας (αλλά την περικλείουμε με τη Γνώση Μας).
और निःसंदेह हमने तुम्हारे ऊपर सात आकाश बनाए और हम कभी सृष्टि से ग़ाफ़िल[4] नहीं।

17. Ir iš tiesų Mes sukūrėme virš jūsų septynis dangus (vieną virš kito) ir Mes niekada nesame nežinantys apie kūriniją.

Действительно, Мы сотворили над вами семь небес, и Мы не были небрежны к творению.

Na kwa yakini tumeziumba juu yenu njia saba. Nasi hatukuwa wenye kughafilika na viumbe.
Vi skapade sju himlar ovanför er, och vi försummar aldrig skapelsen.
Andolsun, biz sizin üzerinizde yedi yol yarattık. Biz yarattıklarımızdan gâfil değiliz.

And we send down from the heaven water by measure, and we make it rest in the earth; but, verily, we are able to take it away
And we send down water from the Heaven in its due degree, and we cause it to settle on the earth; - and we have power for its withdrawal
And We send down rain from heaven, by measure; and We cause it to remain on the earth: We are also certainly able to deprive you of the same

Read across the four public-domain translations - Sale 1734, Rodwell 1861, Palmer 1880, Pickthall 1930 - of 2:29, 41:12, 65:12, 67:3, 71:15, 23:17, 78:12, in full, and nothing else. This study consults no , no , no occasion of revelation and no biography, because none is yet available in an edition whose usage rights can be verified. Itani 2012, the fifth translation shown with these verses, was not consulted for this study.
How this set was arrived at. The verses were found by a word search of the four public-domain translations, using terms chosen by the editor and listed here as they were searched - seven + heavens. The search was a way of finding passages, not a judgement about what they mean: that several translators chose the same English word is not evidence about the Arabic. A different choice of terms gives a different set.
What was returned and not carried. 2 verse(s) the search qualified are recorded as not carried, rather than silently discarded: 17:44 - reason not recorded; 23:86 - a rhetorical question in a series; it adds nothing about the heavens themselves.
Where the translations part company, named rather than resolved. How differently the translations word each verse is shown on that verse's page, and the study names the differences it turns on rather than choosing between them.
