He gives a reason, the text gives a different one, and the two do not match.
His reason is a comparison of substances, and he gives it twice in identical form. 7:12 and 38:76: I AM BETTER THAN HIM. THOU CREATEDST ME OF FIRE WHILE HIM THOU DIDST CREATE OF CLAY. 15:33 puts it as a refusal of the category: I AM NOT ONE TO PROSTRATE MYSELF UNTO A MORTAL whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered.
The Qur'an's verdict is different. 2:34: HE DEMURRED THROUGH PRIDE, AND SO BECAME A DISBELIEVER. Not that his reasoning was faulty - that pride was what produced it.
38:75 is the sharpest verse, because the question put to him contains its own analysis: what hinders thee from prostrating before what I created WITH BOTH MY HANDS? ART THOU TOO PROUD, OR ART THOU OF THE HIGH EXALTED? Two possible explanations are offered, and both are about status.
That question also states the ground his argument ignores. The command in 15:29 and 38:72 is not to bow to clay; it is to bow to something into which God has BREATHED OF HIS SPIRIT. Iblis answers by naming the material and says nothing about the breathing.
17:62 shows what was really at stake, in his own words: SEEST THOU THIS WHOM THOU HAST HONOURED ABOVE ME? The objection is to a ranking, and what follows immediately is the vow to seize Adam's descendants.

(Rabbis) "Yeroo ani si ajaju, sujuuduu irraa maaltu si dhorge?" jedhe, (Ibliis) "Anatu isa caala; Ibidda irraa na uumteetiin isa dhoqqee (biyyee) irraa uumte" jedhe.

38:75 (Ο Αλλάχ) είπε (ως επίπληξη): «Ω, Ιμπλίς (Σατανά)! Τι σε εμπόδισε να πέσεις σε Σιτζούντ στάση (με το μέτωπο ως χαιρετισμός και τιμή) γι' αυτόν που τον δημιούργησα με τα Χέρια Μου; Έγινες αλαζόνας τότε (και σε εμπόδισε η αλαζονεία απ' αυτό) ή ήσουν ήδη από τους αλαζόνες (πριν απ' αυτό);»
38:76 (Ο Σατανάς) είπε: «Είμαι καλύτερος απ' αυτόν, με δημιούργησες από φωτιά ενώ τον δημιούργησες από πηλό.»

15:33 সে (অহংকার করে) বললো: ‘আমি তো এমন নই যে, একজন মানুষকে আমি সাজদাহ করব, যাকে আপনি সৃষ্টি করেছেন গন্ধযুক্ত, শুকনো ও ঠনঠনে কালচে কাদামাটি থেকে।’

15:29 Όταν τον διαμορφώσω και του εμφυσήσω το πνεύμα που δημιούργησα, τότε πέστε όλοι μπροστά του σε Σιτζούντ στάση (με το μέτωπο και τις παλάμες στο έδαφος, ως χαιρετισμό, σεβασμό και τιμή προς αυτόν).»
15:30 Έτσι, όλοι οι Άγγελοι έπεσαν σε Σιτζούντ στάση (με το μέτωπο στο έδαφος),
15:31 εκτός από τον Ιμπλίς (-τον Σατανά- που ήταν τζινν και όχι Άγγελος), αρνήθηκε να είναι μαζί μ' εκείνους (τους Αγγέλους) που έπεσαν σε Σιτζούντ στάση (με το μέτωπο στο έδαφος).
15:32 (Ο Αλλάχ) είπε: «Ω, Ιμπλίς! Τι σε εμπόδισε από το να είσαι μαζί μ' εκείνους που έπεσαν σε Σιτζούντ στάση (με το μέτωπο στο έδαφος);»
15:33 Είπε (ο Ιμπλίς -ο Σατανάς-): «Ποτέ δε θα έπεφτα σε Σιτζούντ στάση (με το μέτωπο στο έδαφος) ενώπιον ενός ανθρώπου που τον δημιούργησες από ξηρό πηλό (σαν τα κεραμικά), φτιαγμένο από μαύρη λάσπη (που έμεινε πολύ καιρό μέχρι) που άλλαξε η μυρωδιά και το χρώμα της!»
15:29 तो जब मैं उसे पूरा बना लूँ और उसमें अपनी रूह़ फूँक दूँ, तो तुम उसके आगे सजदा करते हुए गिर जाओ।[7]
15:30 तो सब के सब फ़रिश्तों ने सजदा किया।
15:31 सिवाय इबलीस के। उसने सजदा करने वालों के साथ शामिल होने से इनकार कर दिया।
15:32 अल्लाह ने पूछा : ऐ इबलीस! तुझे क्या हुआ कि तू सजदा करने वालों में शामिल नहीं हुआॽ
15:33 उसने कहा : मैं ऐसा नहीं कि एक मनुष्य को सजदा करूँ, जिसे तूने सड़े हुए गारे की खनखनाती मिट्टी से पैदा किया है।

15:33 Akasema: Haiwi mimi nimsujudie mtu uliyemuumba kutokana na udongo unaotoa sauti, unaotokana na matope yaliyotiwa sura.

15:31 utom Iblīs; han vägrade att vara bland de som föll ned.
15:32 [Gud] sa: ”Iblīs! Varför faller inte du ned som de andra?”
15:33 Han svarade: ”Jag skulle aldrig falla ned inför en människa – en som du har skapat av torr lera, av svart gyttja.”

15:29 تو جب میں اسے پورا بنا چکوں اور اس میں اپنی روح پھونک دوں تو تم سب اس کے لیے سجدے میں گر پڑنا.[1]
15:30 چنانچہ تمام فرشتوں نے سب کے سب نے سجده کر لیا.
15:31 مگر ابلیس کے۔ کہ اس نے سجده کرنے والوں میں شمولیت کرنے سے (صاف) انکار کر دیا.
15:32 (اللہ تعالیٰ نے) فرمایا اے ابلیس تجھے کیا ہوا کہ تو سجده کرنے والوں میں شامل نہ ہوا؟
15:33 وه بوﻻ کہ میں ایسا نہیں کہ اس انسان کو سجده کروں جسے تو نے کالی اور سڑی ہوئی کھنکھناتی مٹی سے پیدا کیا ہے.[1]

Und als Wir zu den Engeln sagten: „Werft euch vor Adam nieder!“ Da warfen sie sich nieder, außer Iblis; er weigerte sich, verhielt sich hochmütig und gehörte zu den Ungläubigen.
Και (ανάφερε, ω, Μωχάμμαντ) όταν είπαμε στους αγγέλους, «Πέστε σε Σουτζούντ στάση (δηλ. με το μέτωπο και τις παλάμες στο έδαφος) ενώπιον του Αδάμ (ως σεβασμό και τιμή προς αυτόν).» Και έτσι, έπεσαν όλοι σε Σουτζούντ στάση, εκτός από τον Ιμπλίς (-τον Σατανά- που ήταν από τα τζινν), αρνήθηκε και έγινε αλαζόνας, και έτσι έγινε ένας από τους άπιστους.
और जब हमने फ़रिश्तों से कहा : आदम को सजदा करो, तो उन्होंने सजदा किया सिवाय इबलीस के। उसने इनकार किया और अभिमान किया और काफ़िरों में से हो गया।
E Noi dicemmo agli Angeli: «Prosternatevi a Ǣdem ( آدَم )!» Tutti si prosternarono, tranne Iblīs إِبْلِيسَ, che si insuperbì e fu tra i miscredenti.
34. Ir (atminkite), kai Mes tarėme angelams: „Pulkite kniūbsčiomis priešais Adamą (Adomą).“ Ir jie puolė kniūbsčiomis, išskyrus Iblisą (Šėtoną). Jis atsisakė ir parodė išdidumą, ir buvo vienas netikinčiųjų (nepaklusęs Allahui).

They said: Be glorified! We have no knowledge saving that which Thou hast taught us. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Knower, the Wise
They said, 'Glory be to Thee! no knowledge is ours but what Thou thyself hast taught us, verily, Thou art the knowing, the wise

And We said: O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and eat ye freely (of the fruits) thereof where ye will; but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers
And we said, 'O Adam dwell, thou and thy wife, in Paradise, and eat therefrom amply as you wish; but do not draw near this tree or ye will be of the transgressors
And we said, "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and eat ye plentifully therefrom wherever ye list; but to this tree come not nigh, lest ye become of the transgressors
And We said, O Adam, dwell thou and thy wife in the garden, and eat of the fruit thereof plentifully wherever ye will; but approach not this tree, lest ye become of the number of the transgressors
فَأَزَلَّهُمَا ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ عَنْهَا فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيهِ وَقُلْنَا ٱهْبِطُوا۟ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ وَلَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمَتَٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ

But Satan caused them to slip from it, and caused them to depart the state they were in. We said, "Go down, some of you enemies of one another. And you will have residence on earth, and enjoyment for a while."
But Satan caused them to deflect therefrom and expelled them from the (happy) state in which they were; and We said: Fall down, one of you a foe unto the other! There shall be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a time
And Satan made them backslide therefrom and drove them out from what they were in, and we said, 'Go down, one of you the enemy of the other, and in the earth there is an abode and a provision for a time
But Satan made them slip from it, and caused their banishment from the place in which they were. And we said, "Get ye down, the one of you an enemy to the other: and there shall be for you in the earth a dwelling-place, and a provision for a time
But Satan caused them to forfeit paradise, and turned them out of the state of happiness wherein they had been; whereupon We said, get ye down, the one of you an enemy unto the other, and there shall be a dwelling place for you in earth, and a provision for a season

He said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored more than me? If You reprieve me until the Day of Resurrection, I will bring his descendants under my sway, except for a few."

17:61 Und (gedenke,) als Wir zu den Engeln sagten: „Werft euch vor Adam nieder.“ Da warfen sie sich nieder, außer Iblis. Er sagte: „Soll ich mich (denn) vor jemandem niederwerfen, den Du aus Lehm erschaffen hast?“
17:62 Er (also Iblis) sagte: „Was meinst Du wohl von diesem, den Du mir gegenüber mehr geehrt hast? Wenn Du mir bis zum Tag der Auferstehung Aufschub gewährst, werde ich ja seiner Nachkommenschaft ganz gewiss die Zügel anlegen, bis auf wenige.“

17:62 (Ibliis) ni jedhe: “Mee naaf himi! Isa Ati ana caalaa kabajje kana (aadam), yoo hanga Guyyaa Qiyaamaatti na tursiifte, sanyii isaa muraasa malee gara jallinaa harkisa.”

Read across the four public-domain translations - Sale 1734, Rodwell 1861, Palmer 1880, Pickthall 1930 - of 7:12, 38:75-76, 15:29-33, 2:34, 17:61-62, in full, and nothing else. This study consults no , no , no occasion of revelation and no biography, because none is yet available in an edition whose usage rights can be verified. Itani 2012, the fifth translation shown with these verses, was not consulted for this study.
How this set was arrived at. The verses were found by a word search of the four public-domain translations, using terms chosen by the editor and listed here as they were searched - i + am + better + than + him; createdst + me + of + fire; shall + i + fall + prostrate + before + that + which + thou + hast + created + of + clay; he + was + scornful + and + became + one + of + the + disbelievers. The search was a way of finding passages, not a judgement about what they mean: that several translators chose the same English word is not evidence about the Arabic. A different choice of terms gives a different set.
What was returned and not carried. 3 verse(s) the search qualified are recorded as not carried with a reason each, rather than silently discarded: 11:88 - Shu'ayb; matched incidentally; 38:74 - absorbed into the 38:75-76 passage; 41:33 - matched on the better-than formula.
