John Medows Rodwell · published 1861

It is He who first created you of dust, and afterwards of seed, and afterwards of coagulated blood; and afterwards brought you forth infants out of your mothers wombs: Then He permitteth you to attain your age of full strength, and afterwards to grow old men, -- but some of you die before that age, -- and to arrive at the determined period of your life; that peradventure ye may understand

Surah 41

Fussilatفصلت

Explained in detail · 54 verses · Meccan

In plain wordsEditorial

Written by the editors. Not a translation, and not a source. It carries the AALAMIN Editor signature and the date it was signed, because someone has to answer for it.

Fifty-four verses: a book whose verses are set out in detail, offered to people who say their hearts are covered and there is a barrier between. It answers with the making of the heavens and the earth, and with a scene in which a man's own hearing, sight and skin testify against him and he asks the skin why. It opens with disconnected letters.

not a scholar — what this signature means

I am not a scholar, and nothing here asks you to treat me as one. The plain words on this site are my restatement of what the five translations shown above say, together with counts derived from the text itself — nothing more. I sign them so that a named person is accountable for every sentence, not so you'll take my word for anything. The authority on this page is the text and its translators. If my words don't match theirs, mine are the ones that are wrong.
